Camila Knigge Unibe (B.A. UC San Diego) born in San Jose, California to a Mexican mother and German father, lives and works from the San Francisco Bay Area. They currently work as a bilingual elementary school Art Teacher, and is pursuing her M.A. in Ethnic Studies at SFSU.
Their work explores her own identity and experiences as a multiracial person through organic imagery. Her passion for the liberation of all living beings is a frequent theme in her work. The bridge between the identarian and material understandings of race and ethnicity, for her, has been spirituality. Recently, having delved into altarities and painting as meditation and prayer. Her art and research lies at the intersection of Critical Mixed Race Studies, Religious Studies, and Feminist/Decolonial Theory.
